The Bet Pool ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and store it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide and improve the Service.
Account information
When you register or subscribe, we collect your name, email address, and account preferences. You choose a password, which is stored in a hashed, encrypted form and is never visible to us.
Payment information
Subscription payments are processed by our third-party payment provider (Stripe). Your full card number is entered directly with the payment provider and is never stored on our servers. We may receive limited billing details such as the last four digits of your card, card type, billing country and subscription status to manage your membership.
Device & technical information
We may automatically collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring pages and timestamps, to keep the Service secure and functioning.
Usage & analytics information
We collect aggregated information about how the Service is used — pages visited, features used and general interactions — to understand and improve performance.
Communications
If you contact us or post in our community channels, we retain the content of those communications so we can respond and provide support.

3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and subscription;

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us; you cannot opt out of essential transactional messages while you hold an account.

Your information is stored using reputable cloud infrastructure and database providers, protected by encryption in transit and access controls. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Some of our providers may store data on servers located outside Australia; where this occurs we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection.
6. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third parties to operate the Service, including a payment processor (Stripe), cloud hosting and database services, email delivery services, and analytics providers. These parties process your information only as needed to perform their services and under their own privacy and security obligations. Our community is hosted on Discord, which is governed by Discord's own privacy policy.
7. Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information to our service providers (as above), where you have consented, or where required or authorised by law — for example, to comply with a lawful request, protect our rights, or prevent harm.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request corrections if it is inaccurate, to withdraw consent for marketing, and to make a privacy complaint. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
9. Data Deletion & Retention
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information by emailing support@thebetpool.com. We will delete or de-identify your information unless we are required to retain certain records (for example, transaction records for tax and legal compliance). We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy.
10. Children
The Service is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have done so, we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, by notifying you. Please review this page periodically.
